North Carolina Business Group on Health Joins The Leapfrog Group as a Regional Leader
— Hospital Survey will improve local safety and quality for patients

Charlotte – January 16, 2020 – The North Carolina Business Group on Health (NCBGH), a non-profit multi-stakeholder organization representing more than 50 North Carolina businesses providing health care benefits to employees and their family members across the state, has joined The Leapfrog Group as a Regional Leader. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit watchdog organization that serves as a voice for health care purchasers, using their collective influence to foster positive change in US health care.

“NCBGH’s participation as a Regional Leader gives North Carolina employers and purchasers a new tool to help their employees and their communities get the best health care,” said Leah Binder, The Leapfrog Group president and CEO. “The one-of-a-kind data resulting from the Leapfrog Hospital Survey provides the people of North Carolina with information they can’t get anywhere else, so they can make critical health care decisions for themselves and their families. It also gives employers a tool to recognize excellence across the North Carolina hospitals.”

NCBGH will work with all North Carolina hospitals during the submission process for 2020 which begins in March and concludes in December.

“The Leapfrog Hospital Survey and newer Ambulatory Surgical Center Survey are designed by and for employers, other purchasers and major national organizations devoted to improving healthcare quality across the country,” said Jon Rankin, NCBGH’s President & CEO. “Publicly reported safety and quality information is very important to our employers making purchasing decisions and to consumers to know what hospital they should choose. We believe so much in the Leapfrog Group process that we recommend all employers demand it as part of the health plan RFP.”
